John B. Walton (born October 4, 1947 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina) is a former professional American football quarterback. Walton played college football at Elizabeth City State University. From there, he joined the Indianapolis Capitols of the Continental Football League for the 1969 season. He went on to play pro football for the San Antonio Wings of the World Football League and later played in fifteen games over four seasons in the National Football League for the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring. Walton spent a few seasons coaching before coming out of retirement to play for the Breakers of the United States Football League, both in Boston and in New Orleans. Walton retired again after the Breakers disappointing 1984 season.
Following his retirement, he returned to Elizabeth City, where he serves as a teacher and a member of the city council.
